Winter ski holidays in the Harz

Well groomed trails and slopes, several alpine ski areas with different lengths, levels and challenges, toboggan/sledge runs and numerous winter hiking trails make the winter holiday in the Harz into a great experience. Braunlage is a Harz winter sport resort which offers a good chance of snow.

We have compiled some ideas for your skiing holiday in the Harz:

Reach the highest mountain in Lower Saxony with 971 meters and the start of the ski runs with the Wurmberg cable car: the alpine slopes varying from easy to difficult and a total of about 13 kilometers in length.

Enjoy the rather gently ski meadow Hasselkopf and the slope near the town hall - ideal for beginners and children. Here you also find the ski schools.

Enjoy the Achtermann trail and stunning round trips which are up to 10km long, skating cross country trails are flood lit from 6-8pm (with connections to the rest of the trail network), stunning winter landscaped, beautifully groomed trails with an almost equal altitute at about 600 meters above sea level.

Please find here a variety of our trail network. The Braunlage ski area is connected with other Harz ski areas, so that cross country skiers can enjoy long stretches.

Sledging in the Harz - Braunlage offers a 1500m long toboggan run. Reach the start easy with the Wurmberg cable car and then enjoy the fast decent.

The rather gently ski meadow on Hasselkopf and near the town hall offer sledging fun for kids and the whole family.

Regardless the weather, Braunlage has the largest ice rink in the Harz and offers an area of 30x60m skating fun for the whole family.

Follow exciting ice hockey games and cheer on the “hawks” (ice hockey team), try ice curling, dance to music, hold hands while skating romantically, or maybe watch the great iron curling competition.
